Mark Exner
- Company : The National Textile Institute
- Position : Instructor
- Email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
- Phone : 949-305-0307
Bio Information:
Mark Exner began his long career in the cleaning industry at the ripe old age of 19 way back in 1974. While working towards an education in Administration of Justice, he took a job in a hospital housekeeping department for $2.75 per hour. Performing all tasks from commode cleaning to sterilizing surgical rooms, Mark found the work hard, but very rewarding. Unable to find a job opening in law enforcement, Mark continued to clean and eventually started a cleaning company. Many years passed and he decided to take a course on cleaning carpets to see what he didn't know about cleaning carpets. His instructor amazed him on all the many important points Mark had never learned, and he soon realized how valuable the information was. He quickly learned the value of a formal education in cleaning. After taking a second course in upholstery cleaning, he realized if the information could help him that much, he would like to instruct and inspire others as well. Today, Mark instructs classes in Residential Carpet (CCT), Commercial Carpet Maintenance (CCMT), and Upholstery Fabric Cleaning (UFT). He has instructed for Cleanco, Butler, Prochem, Chemspec, The Academy of Textiles & Flooring, The Carpet & FabricCare Institute, Servpro Industries, Disaster Kleenup International and Future Floor Technologies, reaching more people in need than every before. Mark's warm and simple approach has inspired many, and his deep respect of his students has set a good example for the industry.

Ron Valega
- Company : TMC Group
- Position : Owner
- Email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
- Phone : (330) 721-4746
Bio Information:
Ron Valega has been in the cleaning industry since 1977, specializing in restoration, carpet and upholstery cleaning.
As a franchise owner, Ron realized volume sales of up to $1.5 million annually. He understands fully the dedication required to maintain a growing business and the importance of continuing his own education to remain informed of industry changes, trends and the latest technological advances.
As a franchise trainer, Ron’s responsibility was to teach students, men and women entrepreneurs, the restoration, carpet and upholstery business and how to become successful themselves. Ron would always ask his franchise owners “Did you buy a business or did you buy a job?”. Training included not only the “how-to’s” of cleaning and restoration, but also sales, marketing, production and goal planning. Ron understands fully that owning a business is not merely knowing how to perform a particular service. You must be able to manage the office, cash flow and build relationships with staff and customers.
Ron sold his business in the spring of 2002 to focus 100% on teaching. Ron believes “this industry is a craft” and, as with any craft, it must be both studied and practiced to be successful.
Ron became an approved instructor under the school of J. Henry & Company in 1998 and has been instructing IICRC approved classes throughout the United States and Canada. Mr. Henry was a Duraclean employee for several years, but most of all, Jim became Ron’s instructor and mentor for several years. Ron believes in our industry. He believes it is time to be the best we can be and master our craft – all the education we need is available – no more excuses!!! -
